Pamda Penguin Plunge Benefit January 29th

The second annual "Pamda Penguin Plunge" will be held during the "Back to Hack" winter celebration on January 29, from 1 to 2 pm at the City Park on Birch Lake.  The event is sponsored by Pamda (Pines Area Medical Development Association to benefit the local clinic.  The event, held last year for the first time, earned about $8,000.

People may participate as an individual jumper or as a part of a team.  Sponsors are sought to support entrants.  Some business are seeking donations in order to secure a particular individual's appearance in the cold water.  Prizes will be awarded to the individual and the team earning the most money.

Registration forms are available at most local Hackensack businesses and questions may be directed to Mary Parrish at 675-5818. A minimum donation of $30 per individual is required.  More sponsors will be cheerfully accepted. On site registration begins at noon and jumpers will be assigned an approximate time to make their plunge. There are no restrictions on what contestants wear for the jump into the frigid waters and it is rumored that some will wear winter underwear or other stylish attire.  Warm changing areas are provided and the Cass County Divers will be on hand to assist anyone needing help.

The public is encouraged to attend and the emcees will be conducting an experiment to see how many contestants actually turn blue and/or who will give up the loudest scream.  It has been shown by contestants in other similar plunges, that there is a great deal of personal satisfaction in actually surviving such an event.  It is most satisfying that all proceeds will benefit the local medical clinic.

Thanks
